Alliance for Peace
Alliance for peace (AFP) Nepal is a nongovernmental and independent organization working for a peaceful and democratic Nepal . it is a pioneer organization working on political party reforms through democratization amongst the students and youth wings of the political parties in Nepal. Our thematic areas of works include human rights, peace building and conflict transformation with gender mainstreaming as a cross- cutting issue. In 2002, we were a group like- minded students and youths meeting in a coffee shop talking about the spiraling violence in the country when the genesis of establishing an organization came into being. Today, AFP consists of dedicated professionals, student political leaders and concerned youth.
Alliance for peace works with youth and students because it believes that the formative worldview of many youth people provides the possibility for instilling the roots of sustainable change in a Nepal. We believe that the young people are in a maturing and learning stage of life , so their mind and way of thing are still open and adaptable and can be influenced and guided in the correct path.
“Pace is not merely a distant goal that we seek,
But a means by which we arrived at that goal”
Dr.Martin Luther king Jr
Students and youths need to be taught and guided because they are the future of the society; they are tomorrow’s leaders and caretaker of the government.
Alliance for peace also works for the inclusion of vulnerable, the underprivileged and excluded groups, and other backward classes, believing that in a society where there is equality, there will be peace .to this end, Afp works to educate its constituency on the context of good governance , fulfillment of human though advocacy. Discussion forums, research, support and capacity building trainings. Since its inception , the Alliance has worked with abroad range of students and youths and it is currently initiating projects with various partners, namely Danida HUGOU , the embassy of Finland , the office of the high commissioner for human rights (OHCHER), the Asia foundation, MS Nepal and USAID.
