Empowering Youth for Sustainable Peace and Democracy
In 2006-2007, with support from DanidaHUGOU, AfP Nepal conducted six- month training in five different colleges, each representing one development region. Participants were taught democratic values, transparent policies and accountability of electoral processes in relation to student unions; and received leadership training with a focus on practical application of democratic principles. After the completion of the training, the participants formed a Mini Youth Constituent Assembly (MYCA) in Kathmandu and worked for eight days to promulgate a model Constitution reflecting the views and aspirations of the youth. A total of 125 students were direct beneficiaries of this project, the tertiary beneficiaries were the members of the students wings of political parties who participated in the programme.
